Cardinals Unable to Overcome Early Deficit Against Prestonwood Christian

Plano, TX - The Fort Worth Christian Cardinals put up a fight but ultimately fell 10-0 to Prestonwood Christian on Friday. Prestonwood Christian jumped out to take an early lead 2-0 lead in the first.

Fort Worth Christian worked to limit the damage, but Prestonwood Christian added to their lead in the third inning with a single, a fielder’s choice, and a run scored on a wild pitch. The game broke open in the fourth inning when Trent Vilade connected for a grand slam to right field.

Gregory Smeds started on the mound for the Cardinals, pitching one and one-third innings while allowing two unearned runs on one hit. Braylen James, Jake Parkerson, and Griffin Carney each contributed a hit for Fort Worth Christian.

On the mound for Prestonwood Christian, the University of Texas commit, Xavier Mitchell threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out six.

Despite the final score, the Cardinals showed resilience at the plate and in the field, continuing to battle throughout the game. They will look to bounce back in their next matchup against UME Prep.
