The Cardinals took one of two games against Lubbock Trinity on Saturday, winning the first 6-2 before falling 7-3 in the second. Strong pitching and timely hitting secured the opening victory, while a late rally by Lubbock Trinity in game two resulted in a tough loss for the Cardinals.
Jake Parkerson set the tone with a solo homer in the first inning. Antonio Andujar added an RBI single in the third, which extended the Cardinals’ lead to 2-0. Lubbock Trinity tied it in the fourth with a two-run homer, but the Cardinals answered in the fifth with RBI singles from Cameron Davidson and Andujar to take a 4-2 lead. Two more runs in the sixth sealed the win.
Andujar earned the victory with two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit. Gregory Smeds started the game, striking out two over four innings, and Austen Meiser closed the game with a perfect inning. The Cardinals collected 12 hits, with Parkerson, Davidson, Braylen James, and Andujar each recording two.
In the second game, Fort Worth Christian took an early lead thanks to a sacrifice fly by Meiser in the second and an RBI single from Parkerson in the third. After Lubbock Trinity tied it in the fifth, James delivered an RBI single to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.
Lubbock Trinity capitalized on defensive miscues in the seventh, plating five runs on four hits to claim a 7-3 victory. Brance Lecker’s three-run double was the game’s turning point. Griffin Carney took the loss, allowing five runs (one earned) in the final inning. Jeryn Walker pitched four solid innings in relief, while Brody Henderson started with two hitless frames.
James led the Cardinals’ offense with two hits, while Parkerson, James, and Meiser each drove in a run. The Cardinals look to bounce back when they host Lake Country Christian on Tuesday.
