It was a classic pitchers’ duel across both games, but Fort Worth Christian came away with a series split against All Saints this week — dropping Thursday’s opener 2-0 before bouncing back with a gritty 3-2 win on Friday.

The Cardinals were in scoring position several times in Thursday’s game but couldn’t push a run across. Despite outhitting All Saints 8-6, Fort Worth Christian came up short in a 2-0 loss that felt closer than the scoreboard showed.

Gregory Smeds turned in a solid performance on the mound, giving up just one unearned run over four and a third innings. Offensively, Griffin Carney stayed hot, leading the team with three hits. All Saints got on the board in the fourth with a single that brought in a run and tacked on another late.

On Friday, the Cardinals flipped the script, securing a 3-2 win. John Stevens opened the scoring with a two-run single in the second inning.

All Saints tied things up in the third, but the Cards took the lead for good in the fifth after capitalizing on a defensive error. That one-run cushion held thanks to a lights-out performance from Andrew Ridgell, who came out of the bullpen and shut the door — throwing 4.2 innings of no-hit ball with seven strikeouts.

Stevens finished with two RBIs, and several others chipped in with timely hits, including Jake Parkerson and Cameron Davidson. The offense did just enough, and the pitching staff did their job. The Cardinals take on THESA in their next matchup on Tuesday at home.
