The Cardinals secured two impressive wins over Midland Christian with strong pitching and solid hitting leading the way.
Cameron Davidson led the charge in the first game, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Fort Worth Christian struck first in the second inning when Austen Meiser’s fielder’s choice brought in a run. Midland Christian managed to briefly tie it with a sacrifice fly, which was the only run scored for the Mustangs in game one.
The Cardinals took over in the fifth, as Antonio Andujar’s RBI single broke the tie, followed by a booming double from Jackson Perdue that pushed the lead even further. The offense kept pouring it on, racking up 16 hits. Davidson and Braylen James each collected three, while Perdue, Davidson, and Andujar drove in multiple runs.
Gregory Smeds was dominant on the mound, allowing just one run on five hits over six innings while striking out seven. Andujar finished things off with a perfect inning in relief, sealing the 9-1 win.
In the second game, Braylen James put on a hitting clinic, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two singles. The Cardinals wasted no time jumping ahead, putting up five runs in the first inning. Jake Parkerson’s two-run single, a sacrifice fly from Davidson, and an RBI single from Andujar put the Cardinals in control early.
David Salas picked up the win on the mound, working through 3.2 innings while allowing four runs on four hits. Griffin Carney came in to shut down Midland Christian with two scoreless innings in relief.
The Cardinals' offense stayed red-hot, racking up 14 hits. Parkerson and Davidson each drove in two runs, and Andrew Ridgell showed patience at the plate with three walks.
Midland Christian did their best to keep up, managing 13 hits, but Fort Worth Christian’s firepower was too much to handle. The Cardinals were aggressive at the plate, sharp in the field, and dominant on the mound.
With these two statement wins, Fort Worth Christian now looks ahead to Thursday’s matchup against Southwest Christian.
