North Richland Hills, TX - The tournament opened with a pitching duel as the Cardinals secured a 3-0 win over Cathedral. Gregory Smeds got the start, throwing three and one-third innings while allowing just one hit and no runs. Maddox Bradshaw closed it out to earn the save. Offensively, Jake Parkerson’s RBI single in the first put the Cardinals ahead early. Griffin Carney led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3, while the team as a whole racked up four stolen bases.
The Cardinals followed up with another shutout, cruising past Dallas HSAA Angels 7-0. Jeryn Walker’s RBI single set the tone in the first, while Carney continued his hot streak with three hits and an RBI. On the mound, David Salas dominated, throwing three and two-thirds innings of no-hit baseball. Antonio Andujar provided strong relief, striking out three without allowing a hit. The defense was rock solid, playing an error-free game.
Andrew Ridgell stole the show in the Cardinals’ 11-5 win over McKinney Christian. He drove in four runs, highlighted by a three-run triple in the first and a solo home run in the third. After falling behind 2-0 early, the Cardinals responded with a five-run first inning and never looked back. Braylen James, Parkerson, and Cameron Davidson all contributed RBIs as the offense pounded out 11 hits. Hayden Bargy earned the win, tossing three innings with one strikeout.
The tournament finale ended in a 6-6 tie against Nolan Catholic. The Cardinals took an early 4-2 lead behind key hits from Antonio Andujar and James, but the Vikings battled back. After trading runs, the game remained deadlocked through the later innings. Andujar led the team with two hits, while Brody Henderson and Carter Smith pitched through a tough matchup.
With a strong showing in the Private School Classic, the Cardinals continue to build momentum as they prepare to hit the road for the PESH Tournament.
